Paige Mycoskie is the founder & creative visionary behind the 1970’s inspired California lifestyle brand, Aviator Nation.

Aviator Nation was born in Paige’s garage in Venice Beach, 2006, and has since grown into a global lifestyle brand with 5 destination retail locations. Abbot Kinney / Venice, CA (2009), Manhattan Beach (2011), Malibu (2014), Haight Ashbury / San Francisco, CA (2015) and Laguna Beach, CA (2016).

Paige’s passion for 1970’s fashion and the music that defined that time period inspired her to create her own clothing stitched by hand. While working at a surf shop in Southern California, she purchased a sewing machine and spent nights after work teaching herself to sew, determined to create garments with the same look and feel of the vintage pieces she had been collecting for years.

Paige first sold Aviator Nation at a local street fair in 2007 and immediately witnessed its business potential after quickly selling out of every style. In 2009, she opened the first Aviator Nation retail store in Venice, California, on Abbot Kinney Blvd. The laid-back 70’s vibe of Aviator Nation drew locals and tourists. Paige began hosting free concerts on the back patio of her Flagship store to support her other defining passion, music. Paige believes in the universal power of music to unite people for positive change.

In 2012, Aviator Nation launched a partnership with Austin City Limits Music Festival. Mycoskie curated a signature Aviator Nation experience in the artist’s lounge inspired by the iconic energy surrounding Woodstock. She designed and installed a rainbow tipi for musicians to relax and play vintage instruments, which organically evolved into impromptu shows. She also designed ACL x Aviator Nation merchandise that sold out both weekends of the festival. The merchandise continues to sell out year after year.

Following her success with the music festival partnerships and her sought after brand, Mycoskie was asked to collaborate with world renowned artist & musician, John Mayer, designing his “Born + Raised” tour merchandise. The partnership was wildly successful and prompted Mycoskie to delve even deeper into her love of fashion + music.

In 2013, GQ Magazine named Paige as Menswear Designer of the Year. With this recognition, she was asked to create a capsule collection for GQ x GAP. The collection debuted at GAP stores domestically & internationally selling out globally in the first 24 hours.

The overwhelming demand for the Aviator Nation brand has led Paige to continue to launch retail locations in cities she feels drawn to. In 2014, Paige opened her Malibu store in the iconic Malibu Inn. In 2015, Aviator Nation opened on the world famous corner of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco.

Most recently, Aviator Nation collaborated with the NYC based Global Citizen Festival, a festival that shares Paige’s personal mission of, “empowerment through music”. The merchandise designed for the festival was featured in the 2015 New York Fashion Week.

From music festivals to shop in shops to launching an Aviator Nation flagship on the corner of Haight / Ashbury in San Francisco, Paige has taken her unique approach to fashion design and created a global niche market. She has tailored the act of buying a hoodie into a nostalgic experience. Her garments are all handmade in California, in the Aviator Nation factory where each item is distressed to a degree of perfect imperfection, creating a one of a kind piece. Keeping the garments made in America is a core value of the brand.

Aviator Nation has a lot on the horizon for 2016 with the release of a full Aviator Nation surfboard collection, added retail experiences worldwide, and additional brand partnerships. Paige plans to continue to build the brand both domestically & internationally, uniting an Aviator Nation tribe that represents the epitome of a rad California lifestyle.
