Good morning #AtwaterVillage! • As I set up the #btlabus theres something about this piece by @monicajewelryca that makes me picture myself on a small Greek island (like a little one with not as many tourists, you know?) swimming in the ocean, eating grilled octopus and drinking copious cocktails with fresh mint 🍸 🌊 🇬🇷 • But alas, we’re here by the #AtwaterVillageFarmersMarket, and at least we can make the fish and drinks part come true! We’ll be open from 10AM-4PM at 3200 Glendale Boulevard • Address tagged👆🏻and in bio

Nestled in the mountains, with the ☀️ always shining, the #LaCanada farmers market is one of our favorites to bring the #btlabus to! We’ll be open from 9AM-1PM today, and we have plenty of perfect baskets and bags for your produce plunder! • Address above👆and in bio • 📷: @olliella

❤️ Happy 2/14 to my forever #Valentine and #wcw (and current boss)! Love you mama, thank you for bringing me into the world, showering me with love, and letting me share this business (ad)venture with you ❤️• (disclaimer, this is my brother)

I know you’re not supposed to pick favorites, but this #makermonday we’re highlighting Sophie Okulick! • Sophie’s use of wood as the main component in her jewelry pieces brings to mind both mid-century design and the natural environment: a fitting intersection given she hails from L.A. • Her line @sophiemonet has gained such amazing momentum and staying power the past few years, proving she’s not only a skillful artist but a #bosslady at that! • I remember first coming across her booth at @westcoastcraft in SF about three years ago, and feeling as though her work was like nothing I had ever seen before. As a successful female artist, you inspire us Sophie, and we love carrying your pieces on the #btlabus! • 📷: @sophiemonet

It’s a Galentines celebration today @smorgasburgla in DTLA • To celebrate your Gal/Pal/Valentines we’re offering 20% off our gift items with ALL jewelry purchases!! • #findthebus at the @rowdtla from 10AM-4PM • 📷: @claire.berthier

Self-love ain’t easy sistah, and it’s something I have struggled with for a long time. I’d like to say that being a female entrepreneur is always an empowering experience, but it can often lead to a difficult spiral of comparison and self-doubt. • What I’ve decided on my non-linear rocky road to realizing self love is that compassion is a great place to start. Patience for myself, non-judgement, and reframing my “shortcomings” with humanity are the beginning steps. ♥️This is what I’m focusing on this Valentine’s Day ♥️ • (quote attributed to Buddha)

What a gorgeous crisp winter morning that will last 45 minutes before turning into a hot summer afternoon! • We’ll be open at the #PacificPalisades #FarmersMarket from 8AM-1PM today! • Get organic produce for the Tom Brady diet approved #SuperBowl snacks you’re making and shop the #BTLABus

Even as a tried-and-true #eastsider, one of my favorite things about having mobile #schoolbusboutique is getting to spend a lot of time on the #westside • There’s something about the subdued colors and the wear and tear on buildings from salty ocean breezes that makes even “inland” Santa Monica feel relaxing. • We’re having a westside weekend, starting off today at 1627 Montana Ave, Santa Monica by @sweetladyjanebakerycafe from 10AM-4PM • 📷: @ocean_and_main

“Something Resembling Truth” seems like an apropos name for an exhibit these days, and we’re excited to check out the new collection of Jasper Johns works at the @thebroadmuseum opening 2/10! A reminder of the role artists can play in political discourse, we’re excited to head #DTLA to catch a glimpse of over 75 pieces by the artist

Something I love about @freddieharrel is that her amazing energy and love of life is somehow palpable, even if only transmitted through social media! Obviously I’ve never met her, but I’d really like if we could be best friends • Her posts and approach to life manages to make me feel good about myself, just from her feed. She used her position as an influencer to start SHE Unleashed, giving confidence workshops and talks to help women love themselves and live their best lives! Plus she is so incredibly stylish and has a really darn cute baby to boot, so there’s that too 💯♥️💯 #wcw • 📷: @freddieharrel

At Beautiful Things-LA we work to break barriers not only by being a mobile boutique, but through our support of empowered female designers. Today we’re introducing #MakerMonday where we showcase some our favorite designers and artists, so meet Alyssa Wasko, from @donni (and her cutie pooch Olive)! • I first came across @donni in 2015, by chance opening a random press email (of which I get thousands) and I fell in love with her designs at first click! It was really early on for BT-LA, so going to meet people in showrooms could be a VERY sweat-inducing experience for awkward, 22-year-old me, with very little experience on how to appear like a #bossbabe. But I swung by their temporary L.A. showroom, slipped on one of their shawls, and was transformed. I remember feeling like her pieces represented my own duality: the ease of living in LA, with the sleekness of my NY background, and was flooded with the joy I often feel at discovering #beautifulthings and the coming opportunities to share them with others ♥️ • It has been awesome to see @donni grow at Alyssa’s helm, and even more awesome to be carrying them on the #BTLABus this long!

Make this Sunday feel like the 2018 Nancy Meyers movie you always wanted to live in, complete with a trip to the #LarchmontFarmersMarket, a stop on the #BTLABus and this smoked salmon tartine from everyone’s favorite @ggetla • We’ll be open from 10AM-4PM today at 245 N Larchmont Boulevard! • 📷: @ggetla

#findthebus today at the Westlake Promenade from 10AM-4PM, as we work to recalibrate the “big box business vs. independent boutique” mentality! It’s awesome to see shopping centers like this use their resources (big, open space!) to host a small business like ours, and not feel threatened by our presence. I don’t know if I have all the answers to how symbiosis between the two can grow, but we always try to be optimistic • Address in bio • Love this shopping on Saturday look sourced from 📷: @pinterest

#TGIF We’re with you sister: sitting at your desk, listening to your co-worker talk about her upcoming trip to Todos Santos for her birthday while you answer your 400th email this morning, wishing you were in this glorious shower (or had time to shower this morning at all) • Make it feel like Saturday with a trip to the #BTLABus in Toluca Lake today from 10-4! We have some #beautifulthings on sale so head over to 3821 Riverside Drive, Burbank to #findthebus • 📷: @pinterest

#wcw We love you Reese! Thank you for starting your production company Pacific Standard and supporting female novelists who write stories with unique and developed female protagonists. Thank you for your involvement with @timesupnow and for your part in raising $19 million for legal defense funds so women outside of Hollywood, who are the victims of workplace harassment, can feel supported in reporting those actions. Also, thank you for continuing to portray strong, complicated and empowered women like Elle Woods, Melanie Smooter, Cheryl Strayed and June Carter Cash! "I'm takin' the dog, dumbass!" • 📷: @wsjmag

“Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul” • In the spirit of her husbands legacy, today we honor Coretta Scott King - a true activist in her own right - who’s tireless work seeking justice and equality continued on for decades after her husbands passing. • As Co-Chair of both the National Committee for Full Employment and the Full Employment Action Council, in 1974 Mrs. King convened over 100 religious, labor, business, civil and women’s organizations in pursuit of full employment and economic opportunity. In 1987, she helped lead a national Mobilization Against Fear and Intimidation in Forsyth County, Georgia. In 1988, she re-convened the Coalition of Conscience for the 25th anniversary of the March on Washington. She was outspoken not only on the subject of racial injustice, but sought equality for those of all sexual orientations, saying, “I believe all Americans who believe in freedom, tolerance and human rights have a responsibility to oppose bigotry and prejudice based on sexual orientation” • She founded the King Center (who provided this info) and worked to create this holiday on her husbands behalf, to honor his belief in non-violence and pursuit of civil rights and social justice. Let us realize today how we continue on her important work, and respect her honor ♥️

About

About

What started as a what-if became a dream realized for Susan Forrest-Reynolds, when she purchased a 1991 Bluebird school bus.

With a desire to transcend the often stagnating sprawl of Los Angeles and to start a mobile business, that Bluebird was soon transformed into asuperbly renovated, traveling storefront.

Bringing Beautiful Goods Back To Your ‘Hood
Beautiful Things-LA is Los Angeles’ premiere mobile retail boutique! Based on a sleekly renovated, vintage Bluebird School Bus, BT-LA shuttles eclectically curated accessories, home goods, and apothecary items all across the city. Inspired by Southern California design and culture, we seek to promote independent makers and artisans from both the United States, and across the world.

On the road since September 2014, the BT-LA Bus rides the streets of Los Angeles, exposing communities across the sprawl to unique merchandise. Click below to view our calendar and find the bus on a corner near you!
