Beatrice Valenzuela and Rachel Craven founded the Echo Park Craft Fair in 2009. They visualized a space that would showcase and nurture the talented artisans, designers and craftspeople that live in their inspired neighborhood on the eastside of Los Angeles. Originally held in Valenzuela’s backyard, the Echo Park Craft Fair has grown into a popular bi-annual arts and design event, now held at the historic 5,000 square foot Mark Sennett studios in Silverlake, CA.
The Echo Park Craft Fair was founded nearly a decade ago by friends Beatrice Valenzuela and Rachel Craven, working artists and mothers, seeking to create a space to connect with their local creative community.
As the Fair has evolved, alongside what is now a global Makers Movement, the core values and intentions have remained the same – to provide a vibrant gathering place for a circle of artists to commune, share and inspire. The goal of these bi-annual celebrations is nothing less than a shared catharsis, a moment where talented creatives are not only able showcase amazing new work, but also to motivate, encourage and care for one another.
The world has changed greatly since Valenzuela and Craven’s idea was first born ten years ago. More than ever, there is a desire for art, beauty and most of all, community.
Now hosting thousands of visitors and featuring artists from around the globe, The Echo Park Craft Fair remains a one-of-a-kind movement for us to unite in positivity, support and celebration.

Expanding far beyond from its beginnings as an intimate backyard gathering, The Echo Park Craft Fair now occupies the entirety of the legendary Mack Sennett Studios in Los Angeles, spreading across two massive soundstages and occupying an entire block just outside the historic venue. Featuring not only the best artists working in beauty, crafts and design, the Fair now offers delicious artisan foods and coffees from the finest local eateries, snacks and drinks from Moon Juice, a specialty cocktail bar hosted by The Spare Room, and eclectic music curated by renowned Dublab DJs.
“As the Fair grows it’s important to remember what it’s all about – we’re women and artists who are supporting each other, validating each other’s vision, laughing, creating and struggling together. No matter where it all goes, how much it grows – it has to remain about that sense of community and fostering a greater sense of beauty in the world.”
