About

About

Gopi began working with clay at the age of 14. Discovering the calming patience required to work with such a natural and fragile material, she immediately fell in love with wheel-throwing. Continuing her ceramics education at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and then at Santa Monica College, Gopi started learning about glaze chemistry and clay composition, improving her form and technique.

In 2014, Gopi launched her ceramics business and has evolved her line to include housewares and objects uncommonly designed with clay. Each piece is wheel-thrown by Gopi in her studio in Long Beach. Without use of molds, no two pieces are the same. Because of her history with ceramics and pottery and various teachers along the way, Gopi has learned a variety of skills and practices that give way to her distinguished line of work.

These past few months have been a whirlwind for me. After battling my eczema and dealing with the frustration and depression of not being able to work, we found out our landlord was selling our home (along with my garage studio). We were given notice to leave in November, and December was spent finding a new home, fulfilling holiday orders, and working long hours every day. Last week we packed up our belongings and my studio and moved to our new place on the 23rd, a few days before Christmas. I have unfortunately not found a new studio to work from, but I am on the hunt for one in Long Beach. My eczema has come back, so I will be spending January working on my health and searching for a new studio. Thank you all so much for a wonderful year. I have grown in so many ways and appreciate you all so much. I am excited for the big things happening in 2019 and will let you all know when I'm back up and running again! Happy New Year!
