Though our business is primarily focused on producing custom merchandise/apparel for our clients, we involve our staff in internal art workshop “Residencies” that lead to seasonal retail products. Our monthly donors will be the first to receive new items each season, and then we’ll make them available online. ⁣ ⁣ Our 2019 Winter/Spring Residency will feature crewneck sweatshirts, hand-painted tote bags, and handmade floral bath bombs! ⁣ ⁣ And don’t forget ResidencyApparel.com will be live starting January 1st!

Brace yourself, we have news. As of January 1st, we’re rebranding and changing our company name to Residency. I know this is a lot to take in, but we’ll get through this together. ⁣ ⁣ After the last 11 years of growth and outreach, we feel we’ve outgrown the name “Povertees” and have decided to replace it with a name that better reflects our evolution as a wholesale apparel company, and our growing culture of employee job-training and personal development. ⁣ ⁣ The name Residency was inspired by the ‘Artist-in-Residency’ program concept, where an artist is invited into a supportive and immersive environment, and equipped to develop their craft and build their resume. Additionally, the word residency signifies the state of having permanent residence. We embrace both concepts in our mission to employ women transitioning out of homelessness in an immersive and supportive environment while preparing them for graduation into a life of self-sufficiency. ⁣ ⁣ Alongside our name, we’ve also shifted our product focus away from retail pocket tees. We now concentrate solely on custom branded merchandise and apparel. Our recent production partners include companies like Yelp, Anaheim Ducks, The Mill, Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, & Nighthawk. It’s a great way for businesses to support our cause while receiving needed merchandise in return. ⁣ ⁣ We believe the function of a company is to support its community of interest (employees, clients, customers, partners). For this reason, we’re cultivating an environment designed to have the greatest possible impact both on those on the inside and on the outside - staff, clients, and partners alike. We’re excited to continue to share our journey with you and we hope you’ll continue to take part as a member of our Residency family! ⁣ ⁣ Follow us at @ResidencyApparel (we’ll change this Povertees account over so just keep following this one!) and visit us at ResidencyApparel.com starting January 1st. More details to follow! ⁣

Our lady Dana, aka Great Dane, is moving on to a new job using many of the skills she learned here. We will be experiencing never-ending sorrow because of her absence, but we're so happy that she has found another place to call home! Congrats, Dana! ❤️

Happy One-Year, four months to our Inventory Manager, Nikki! We're four months late on the anniversary, but that's been four months of good old-fashioned, white collar hard work!

Bleach Dyes coming soon, aka now everything has been stained ☔️

Our president Hugh F. Hughes IV only works out of the home, even if the home is an @airbnb on the road. We've been encouraging him to try a more adventurous color palette with his outfits (maybe a nice fuchsia or berry shirt), but he is very resistant to change.

Many many thanks to everyone who supported and pushed us this year. We're going into 2017 ready to take these buildings over 💪🏻, or least the smaller ones ✌🏻️. Happy New Year!
