The outpouring of support on yesterday’s post was really heartwarming. Thank you so much! ☺️☺️☺️
This is a piece I finished recently that I AM pumped about. Inspired by our trip last November to @thejoshuatreehouse and their incredible garden! 😍
I’m thinking about putting together a pack of mix and match pattern elements inspired by Joshua Tree (and maybe/probably other packs inspired by other places). Do you think you would be interested in something like that? (Let me know in the comments please! 💕)
Things are looking bright in the studio today. I FINALLY made the time last night to tidy up the office/de-clutter/organize thread scraps/and hang these pieces that have been sitting on the floor in here since the day we moved in almost a year ago. 😬
And now things are feeling fresh and I’m actually excited to get to work today, which is good because if I’m being completely honest about it, I haven’t been feeling super inspired lately.
I have faith in myself that I will get past this slump, but if you’ve been wondering why my posts have slowed and I haven’t been sharing tons of work, it’s because I haven’t been making it. And I haven’t felt like sharing the things I have been working on. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve also been making time to get out of the studio and pursue other projects/passions/interests etc. because as a person I am more than embroidery and more than this account (definitely strayed into an unhealthy relationship with IG towards the end of 2018). So if anyone is still reading, I’m here and I’m working through it and exciting things are to come (I know it) and I hope you are feeling good or at least know that you can feel good even if you aren’t feeling it now.
Hit the used book jackpot this weekend with this 1920 edition of ‘The Practical Book of Oriental Rugs’ 😍
Though the text describes some exploitative collecting practices following WWI, the color plates and technical information is so good! And I’m such a sucker for old book covers. (Swipe to see a better image!) Anyway, if you’ve been snowed in today I hope you can stay cozy and enjoy it! I’ll be diving into this book + shooting new items for @keenefolk ❤️ (Pretty much my ideal situation.)
The studio wall is filling up again!
Hop on my mailing list to receive a heads up for the next shop update. (The exact date of which is still TBD, but likely early February.) And don’t mind that dying monstera 🙊 we all have casualties sometimes! Plus I already have cuttings in water for propagation, so all is not lost!
A pile of work from the past month or so ready for finishing touches (aka trimming excess fabric and glueing). There will likely be a shop update sometime in February, but at I am really easing into 2019 it isn’t 100% scheduled yet.
Hop on my mailing list to keep up to date with studio news/events/happenings/updates etc. Just follow the ‘Stay in the Loop’ link up top. I am ALSO planning on offering 4 freebie embroidery patterns to my mailing list over the course of this year, so you might want to hop on now for full benefits! 😘
I’m adding some shingles to me January A-Frame #skbdiy Pattern and getting into the cozy cabin vibe by starting my morning off with some hot chocolate.
While this shingles detail isn’t included in this month’s original pattern, I always encourage Pattern Program participants to make the designs their own! ❤️
I’ve been working on something a little outside of the usual for me, but I’m pretty excited about it!
I fell in love with this vintage printed cotton at the thrift store (plus 2.5ish yards of it were only 75 cents!) and I just had to have it. That was a few months ago and I’ve finally come around to a plan and a little experimentation.
Our new venture @keenefolk is having a Grand Opening Sale starting at noon today! Find us on Etsy as KeeneFolkVintage!
We have lots of good stuff to share with you! (Direct link is in @keenefolk ‘s bio. The sale will only run for 24 hours, so be sure to check it out this afternoon!) #celebratingsecondhand
#ayearofnothingnew (If you’re curious, All art sources are tagged! 💕) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My little lady (top left) is in good company with these pieces by @beccastadtlander and @lindsayvictorialee in Portsmouth, NH at @nahcotta / @enormoustinyart 💚
This piece is trying to camouflage. 💚🌿
Today is my first FULL day back in the studio after almost a month in and out and away. And while I’m so happy and excited to be fully back at work (today is dedicated to custom house portrait pattern creation and it is so fun/I am so humbled by people’s trust in me with this new and special project), I’m also finding it a little hard to focus and concentrate. 😬
So I just took a little break to swap a couple plants because the winter light is a little different and the plants are starting to feel it. For month a monstera has lived where that big geranium is on the left, but the leaves were starting to burn! Hopefully there is no long term damage to the plant (the burned leaves won’t recover, but I’m hoping it doesn’t prevent the plant from growing more!). Fingers crossed this geranium likes the stronger light a little better!
Did you know that I am designing custom house portrait patterns this month? Well, I am! Find all the details in my Etsy shop 😘
