THESYS Design creates clever furniture and products through a combination of a systematic design approach and a clean, Nordic-inspired, aesthetic. The name THESYS has dual meaning, as a contraction of “the system” and also a stylization of the word thesis. Established in 2015, designer Alexander Kwong draws upon an architecture education that took him from Texas, to Finland, to Southern California in pursuit of a design language of detail, assembly, and narrative.
With beginings as a side project, THESYS Design is a product of research and experiments into creating fun, accessable designs developed from the architectural concept of utilizing a “kit of parts”. From there, THESYS Design has since expanded to offering product collections each based around a unique detailing language, and designed with influences drawn from Scandinavian and Californian culture.
From the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, THESYS Design works in collaboration with trusted craftsmen throughout Southern California to produce the best possible products through a mixture of traditional craft and modern techniques.
