ABOUT THE ARTIST
RACHEL D. MARK
Hi my name is Rachel, and I am the creator of Tiny Climbers novelty magnets. I am a miniatures enthusiast and a professional painter and sculptor for stop-motion puppet and set fabrication.

I started climbing in 2014 and am embarrassed to admit that I’m still an intermediate level climber, but I am working on it!

This project has been a labor of love from start to finish, and perfectly combines my day job with my nights-and-weekends hobby and I am so excited to share this tiny gift with you, my climbing community!

@tinyclimbers

Take home a little piece of the gym with these miniature climbing hold refrigerator magnets! Handmade by me, @racheldmark

Hey all, I know we have been quiet over here for a bit, and there's good stuff in the works. For those of you who don't know, I have been working with the Adaptive Climbing group at @stronghold for a few months now. This is a program that I absolutely love, and I want to help get the word out! This coming Wednesday, August 22nd, we will be having a special Adaptice Climbing evening at @stronghold. Here's the low down: + 6:30 - 9:30 usual open night for Adaptive Climbing + 6 - 9 PM Adidas fundraiser sample sale: jackets, workout gear, shoes and 5.10 climbing shoes. Adidas will donate proceeds from this night to help send adaptive climbing athletes to the IFSC Paraclimbing World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria. + 8:30 - 9 PM Adaptive movie presented by Mountain Adventure Film Fest. The movie is called Craigs Reaction, and is about Craig de Martino, an adaptive climber and key figure in developing Adaptive Climbing in the USA. (He was also member in the Gimp Monkeys Film for those who saw that). It follows his journey from his initial injuries through to current time. For those looking for volunteer opportunities here are a few of the sessions happening at Stronghold this month. There are openings for two volunteers for the Pilot, CATCH and Rancho sessions. The open nights being open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Adaptive Climbing. Wednesday 22nd:  11am - 1pm:  Pilot session for Center for Neuro Skills 6:30pm - 9:30pm; Open Adaptive night and Special event (as mentioned above) Every Wednesday: 4:30pm - 6:30pm: CATCH session (Childrens Hospital) 6:30pm - 9:30pm: Open Adaptive night Wednesday Sept 26th: 10am - 12pm: Rancho Los Amigos Ok so lots happening at Stronghold this month, hopefully we'll see you this coming Wednesday for the special Adaptive Climbing night, Movie and Gear sale!

Funding Unsuccessful: This project's funding goal was not reached about 10 hours ago; $5,923 pledged of $28,000 goal. Welp. That didn’t work, time to try something new! “What’s next?” …  That’s a great question! For sure, this isn’t the end of Tiny Climbers, but it’s definitely time for me to take a beat, take stock of where I’m at, and reevaluate my options to pave the path forward. Another thing that I know in my gut is that this project hasn’t quite found its soul. It’s fun to share with friends, but I know that I want it to have more meaning. I want it to have heart. I believe in this project and I think I have a few good ideas for what’s next! It’s a bummer that crowdfunding didn't work out, but honestly I kind of saw it coming. Sometimes you can see the end of the tracks from miles away. You know this train is going off the rails, but it left the station ages ago, it’s already at full speed, and it’s too late to apply the breaks. In this instance all you can really do is sit back and watch the landscape roll on by and do your best to enjoy the ride. This project has been immensely challenging and a roller-coaster of emotions. At times it has felt deeply lonely and infuriating. More often though, it has felt connecting, rewarding, and exciting and I am left with a deep sense of satisfaction that can only come from hard work and determination. I built something real and I am proud. ❤❤❤ I have received so much support and encouragement along the way, that sometimes I feel carried forward and this is DEFINITELY one of those times. Thank you. Now to go watch some fireworks light up the world. Lots of love! Climb on! --Rachel

WIP! The last time I posted a photo of this part of the process it was to illustrate how I cast the pieces in clear resin first so that I can see how far I'm drilling into them to place the nails for tacks & pins. (More available in the shop soon!) It also sparked some really fun feedback and requests for ⚡️TRANSPARENT SPARKLE HOLDS⚡️. Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone enjoyed a long Memorial Day weekend. We had so much fun running the pop-up at @laboulders (more in my story highlights👆🏽) and watching some really impressive climbers compete all afternoon. // Here I am scaling a wall at @cliffsofid! Juuuuust kidding. My feet were planted firmly on the ground, as I weigh a bit more than 6 sheets of paper 😁 If you have any photos you’ve taken with your Tiny Climbers in your favorite gym or wherever their new home has taken them, I’d love to see!
