At our winter show, @dosist created a lush oasis in the front of the Pavilion, introducing attendees to their award-winning dose pens. Not only are the pens pretty to look at, but also deliver just the right amount of balance and harmony. #dosist #healthandhappiness
On Friday night before the big weekend, one of WCC’s founders, Nick Sarno, and WCC super friend Megan, peel back the lining from our logo. Behind every small business, there is a team, maybe even just a team of 1, putting in the long hours to make a dream a reality. Each WCC, some 25k+ people come out to support the businesses of artist and designer craftspeople with their time and money. It is a gesture that may seem small, but to a growing business with limited resources and big dreams, it is huge. On this day and everyday, support in whatever way you can (small purchase, big purchase, post like, an encouraging comment), the work of people who bring much joy and beauty to our lives. #smallbusinesssaturday
Our amazing #westcoastcraftscholarship winner for W’18 @pantehart was featured on @girlboss and talked with them about her practice, inspirations, and more. Check out their tour of her studio in our stories.
At first glance, @pantehart's art feels like something you'll need to sit with to fully pick apart. Women sit adorned in fruity accessories and medical devices and blood and bones. Panteha was born with Sickle Cell disease, a genetic condition that has caused her to live with chronic pain, and after a period of severe pain and hospitalization, she turned to art as a way to cope. This outlet not only works to de-stigmatize narratives around women of color and pain, but allows her to express her own experience while reimagining the narrative, depicting torment as strength. This, to her, is empowering and resulted in what she describes as, "girls that would murder you in your sleep."
Please give a big “concats!” to #wccbestbooth winner @babycatsofca! Maybe it was the head-to-toe cat popsicle print designed, printed, and sported by @cresentcat in her booth, or maybe it was the rad selection of cheerful, colorful goods that have given the brand its cult status. We think it was both and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next time! #westcoastcraftvendor #westcoastcraft
